A GOLDEN START FOR THE FIRST HIGHTECH MEDICITY OF THE NATION
Medical facilities in India have always been a concern since long time. According to statistics published by the Lancet, approximately 8.6 million people dies due to poor health facilities or unavailability of health care institutes. India is aiming to become the global paramedic help and hence are taking the bigger steps towards that. Amidst the globally concerning Ukraine- Russia war recent evacuation of Indian medical students questioned a medical education system in India. The COVID-19 pandemic also brutally put forth the poor medical facilities of the country.
Although availability to the healthcare does not always mean the quality treatment measures. Indian medical services have seen a lot of biased nature in the treatment facilities. The gap between this has to be filled to get an equal and unbiased treatment to everyone. Indian government after thorough concern on the same decided to invest more and establish a several medical facilities across India.
While addressing the assembly a year before, Dr Amol Kolhe, MP requested a government financial aid for the first Medicity in India, to be known as “Indrayani Medicity”. This is a private public partnership Project, expecting to get an investment of about 10000 crores. The government has now sanctioned a 300 acres land for the prestigious medical facility in Khed Taluka of Pune.
This project will help people not from the Khed or Pune but from the entire Maharashtra as all types of treatment with advance equipment and Artificial intelligence assisted medical devices for many critical and advanced surgeries. This will be the first of its kind having a largest patient intake capacity with around 10 to 15 thousand of beds. The institute will be set up by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).
The Indrayani Medicity will accommodate 24 buildings, segregated according to individual facilities. This project will come to aid for measure diseases including critical trauma, heart disease, kidney, brain disease, dentistry, pediatrics, ophthalmology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, urology, haematology, organ transplantation, gynaecology, cardiology and psychiatry and separate super-specialty hospitals will be set up for all departments such as cancer, AYUSH etc. The Medicity will also have a separate departmental building for innovative research in field of medicine. This will give an opportunity to our budding scientist to use their knowledge and help our society with their innovation in the field of medicine. It will also have a pharmaceutical manufacturing and physiotherapy and wellness centers.
One can be hopeful to get a pocket friendly treatment for many diseases from this project. Although it will take a lot of time to establish the model and get it running, beginning is always the most important part of the work.
